Why the 2008 Toyota Avalon?

Powertrain performance

The Avalon is a powerful car. When you press on the accelerator (e.g. at take off or overtaking) it will go really fast.

Interior styling

It is very luxurious and the interior design is smooth with all the buttons and pockets ready at hand and within easy reaching distance from the driver.

Exterior styling

Although it might seem dull, but it gives the impression of prestige.

Reliability & durability

I had the Avalon for a short period, but as with previous Avalons and Toyotas in general, they are reliable and they sustain years of heavy use.

Brand reputation & image

Toyota is the #1 in car manufacturing. This should say a lot. Toyota Corporation has offices and factories in many countries, and Toyota cars are sold all over the world.

This vehicle has been great all-around car, good performance and very comfortable. Overall the reliability has been very good. The vehicle is used by my wife around town and for family vacations and trips. We've owned it for 8-years. We purchased it used in 2009 (dealer demo) as a one year old used vehicle with only 7100 miles. It now has 61,000 miles. The only problem has been the brakes. They have been repaired two previous times for the same problem. At freeway speeds, they develop a bad shudder when braking. This has been diagnosed as warped front rotors. The first repair on the original brakes was under warranty. Although we had the platinum warranty, (7 years-100,000 miles) which was still in effect, the dealer stated Toyota will only repair the brakes once. We paid for the second repair, a set of front rotors and brake pads. Now the vehicle is exhibiting the same symptoms of shuddering while braking at freeway speeds. I have an appointment next Friday at my local Toyota dealer to discuss this continuing problem. I kept the last set of pads which were replaced, which only show minimal amounts of wear.
