What Our Members Are Saying about the Available Features of the 2016 Toyota Corolla

2016 Toyota Corolla Available Features: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2015 4dr Hatch 138-horsepower 1.8L I4
7-speed shiftable CVT FWD
Picked up a Corolla Ascent Sports in January, just based on costing of a company lease. I have had a corolla previously and currently also still have the old trustee ECHO 2Door manual at almost 250K. Also owned a Tarago older version non-A/C for 100K. Toyota are reliable mechanically. The latest Corolla as I noticed others have mentioned has NO lumber adjustment resulting in being arched over when driving. This adds to causing fatigue just ion a 2Hour drive. Yes the headrest is 40mm to far forward to amplify the issue. I have not taken this to Toyota as yet. The instrumentation/dashboard displays.... There are three LCD displays which when in high sunlight...NOT one can be viewed clearly let alone the ridiculous sized FONT. The dull green and red warning lights are NOT visible during the day in high sunlight. The speedo is not clearly visible in this same light, let alone being +/-10KM gradients and reads up to 240K!! The dashboard clock is way over past halfway (aww we forgot that?) and not clearly visible to the driver. The radio being out further protruding is the worst for lack of visibility. Most times I can not activate the 'on screen' touch controls..and I do have clean hands. ALL of the above does increase the risk of a serious accident. YET I look at the ECHO with the displaced sunken totally DIGITAL display..which is clearly visible in ALL light conditions...and less than 0.25 secs know exactly what speed I am doing without glasses on. THIS is 10+years ago technology!!! What has happened to Toyota?? I have also driven two Ford sedans both beyond 200K and the cruise did improve to handle gradient changes, and ALWAYS could adjust speed up or DOWN by one K grads. The Corolla...forget IT, it can speed UP!! You can not program the cruise to slow down without applying engine break via manually applying shift control or the brake. It take around 2secs to acknowledge you want to slow down, then a further 5secs to apply the change!! When shifted to manual change in cruise...the accelerator means nothing...that can be put to the floor and nothing until changing back into Auto selection. Also mentioned is the engine/trans noise now in at 45K....yes it has a little 'sowing machine' like noise. The positives: the Corolla does handle well, acceleration great, brakes are excellent and economy excellent. THIS IS the age of electronics, all of the dashboard should be way more advanced into the one neon ALL digital display. The speedo should be logarithmic as slow speeds are more vital around the populated areas. And for god sake the speed as it is...NOT 5Km slower. My ECHO is set to -0.5/+0Km, so I know my speed exactly.
