Why the 2004 Toyota Highlander?

Reliability & durability

Toyota has consistently been a reliable brand with fewer incidences of repair

Driving position & visibility

No blind spots; electric seat and lumbar support

Materials & workmanship

Fit and finish is great; no indication of rust anywhere after 6 years;

Brand reputation & image

Well...up until the issues with cars accelerating on their own their reputation was untarnished. Still...very few cars exhibit this trait so I still would buy another one.

Front seat room

There is enough legroom and the width fits us correctly and allows us to comfortably put our elbows on the armrests. Some cars are TOO wide and the armrests are too far away from your body.

I definitely agree with all of your points. We've had our 2004 Highlander for 11 years now and needed no repairs after 74,000 miles. Fit and finish are still great. No rust (even living in Washington). And your comment about resting your elbows on the arm rests is spot on. We test drove the Honda Pilot back in '04 and there was TOO much room in the seat for us. Our elbows could not comforably rest on the arm rests.
