Reviewed: 2009 Toyota Highlander

4dr SUV 187-horsepower 2.7L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD

Why the 2009 Toyota Highlander?

Fuel economy

I am averaging 27 mpg on my 2.7L engine on my mostly highway commute. During summertime it is close to 30 and during winter it goes to about 25, with snow tires. Best MPG for a 7 passenger non-hybrid out there.

Exterior styling

I find it attractive, not particularly striking.

Driving position & visibility

Great view of the road and the world around me

Ride smoothness

It is pretty quiet for a large vehicle. It is easy to hear the music or radio when I'm driving

Reliability & durability

Has been very reliable, no issues at all

Why Not the 2009 Toyota Highlander?

Handling

Definitely not sporty to drive, but you don't buy this car for the sportiness.

Cargo capacity

Terrible with the third row up. Doesn't matter to me because I rarely use it, but it is kinda bad.
