Jan 2018141 miUS $113 | Replace upstream O2 sensor due Check Engine light on and 2 codes. Replaced with Denso 234-0091 and cleared codes. I used an AutoLink AL 319 code reader for diagnosis and for clearing the codes. NOTE: I read about and saw 5 or 6 Youtube presentations about this replacement procedure and they were all very convoluted and had a number of steps that were simply not needed, like special tools, jacking up the truck, etc. NO special tools are needed. At least on my make and year Tacoma, I simply crawled under the right side of the truck (no jacking up the truck as many suggested - I have stock rims), looked where the exhaust pipe curved up towards the exhaust manifold, just before the Cat, and the O2 sensor was clearly visible and accessible. The ONLY hassle was trying to put back the connector bracket for the O2 sensor connector. I couldn't get my stubby fingers to do it! So, I zip tied it to a cool spot on the chassis. It took about an hour because of my struggle with the connector bracket but more like 40 minutes if I didn't. Also as preventative maintenance, I cleaned MAF Unit. There is a spray solution I used for this, available at an auto parts store. Just remember NOT to touch or scrape the actual sensor. From 1/25/2018 to present date 2/24/2018, Engine Check Light has not come on. |
