I've had this car 2 months, and have had the chance to do a lot of city and highway driving. I'm happy with the gas mileage on the highway, which is 40 to 42 mpg, driving 55 to 65 mph.This is higher than the EPA estimate of 36 mpg hwy. Even in city driving I'm getting 34 mpg, which is stop and go with some freeway driving. .This has an automatic.The car seems to be under rated by Consumer Reports, but I'm happy with how smooth the engine runs and the quick acceleration . It rides a bit rough, but that doesn't bother me, because there's little lean on curves.My only complaint is tire noise on coarse pavement is high, probably due to poor insulation. But it's an inexpensive car,so you can't expect everything. You just have to turn the radio up to hear your tunes. I'm impressed with the cargo capacity with the rear seat folded down. I recently helped a friend move a folded tread mill, 2 suit cases , 2 large boxes. It's like a little station wagon with that hatchback. Toyota has a good reputation with reliability, so I expext it to be mostly trouble free.
