Powertrain performance

The 2.0T (TSI on this model year) has a wide powerband and excellent low-end performance making daily driving a pleasure.

Interior styling

The Interlagos plaid seats are well-bolstered. Interior fit and finish are excellent with few "plasticy" bits.

Handling

Despite being FWD, it displays very little torque steer and it a joy to take through the twisties.

Fuel economy

Among similar "hot hatch" models, the GTI gets the best fuel economy by 5-10 mpg.

Feature availability

Touchscreen, six-disc, in-dash CD changer standard, with optional Dynaudio speakers. Rear side airbags optional.

Quietness

Rattles in the B-pillars on both sides of the car and wind noise at speed through the door seals.
