One headlight burned out, then two weeks later, before I'd had a chance to take it in, the other one did too, necessitating a high-priority visit. The manual says I shouldn't try to change an H7 bulb myself, but on the plus side, it's covered by warranty

You've heard of Fahrvergnuegen. This problem was heimtueckish. It dropped VW several notches in my book.
AC stopped working. After much troubleshooting, identified prob as faulty fuse box atop battery. Wiring corroded, fuse holder bad.
Trunk opening actuator failed. Replaced with aftermarket fix (buy part off ebay, install self).
Based on vehicle history, this is like the 4th battery in this car's 8-year life. I believe it was due to the poorly engineered wiring (see April trip), and should be OK after replacing alternator cable.
Strange clicking sound started coming from the dashboard after I picked it up from the dealer, ended up being the turn signal arm and four way switch, cost me another $500, car is running smooth as butter otherwise.
