Why the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta?

Safety & braking

The car comes standard with 6 airbags, ABS, traction control, Electronic Stability Program, Brake Assist, active headrest, etc. On top of that it one of the safest vehicles on the road today (IIHS Best Pick).

Handling

This car has amazing balance for a pretty heavy front drive car. The redesigned front/rear suspension got rid of the horrible understeer and sloppy handling of the last generation car.

Materials & workmanship

Excellent interior build quality and materials, looks far more expensive than what I paid. All interior and exterior panel gaps are uniform all the way around.

Front seat support & comfort

Seats provide the right amount of support and do not have pressure points even on the longest drives. Feel as though they provide infinite adjustments (vs other cars I have driven) and can fit even the tallest adults.

Controls and instruments

Everything is right where you need it and once you get used to the locations of the switches you can do everything without taking your eyes off the road. All switches are lit at night. All the switches operate very smoothly and feel very high quality.

Why Not the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta?

Reliability & durability

I ran into many interior cosmetic trim issues during the warranty period, however no major mechanical problems. Now at ~67k miles I have had to replace the drivers door latch and one of my radiator cooling fans is acting up.
