Why the 2003 Volkswagen Jetta?

Powertrain performance

The turbo provides plenty of torque and power without penalizing fuel economy. The turbo lag is minimal and provides great response when you kickdown or downshift the tiptronic to pass.

Safety & braking

Strong braking with a firm pedal that gives lots of feedback without the ABS cutting in until the very last second

Handling

While the car rolls too much for my taste (easily fixed with a rear swaybar) once it takes a set it has quite high ultimate grip and decent feedback through the tires about slip angles and when you approach understeer.

Interior styling

Looks like it belongs in a more expensive car and it has simple controls with large buttons and dials that are easy to use with gloves on in the Canadian winters.

Discounts & incentives

Our car was a dealer employee car with only 10k kms (6k miles) and three years of warranty left and we saved $7,000 of list price.
