Why the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta?

Fuel economy

They say 30/42 MPG, I have NEVER seen below 34 mpg and that was trying to burn some fuel. Our first trip was to the Tri-state area in West NC. Hand calculated to 46.3mpg. We constantly get 42-43mpg on the highway, and 37-39 around town, which is 30mph driving. My wife and I both drive fast on the highway, On average the Cruise control is set between 75-85 (tends to be on the higher side).

Front seat room

This vehicle was intended to be the "Mommy Mobile". My wife also likes to drive most of the time in "Her Car". I am 6 ft 205 lb; with my 22 month old daughter in a forward facing car seat, I feel I have to pull my seat some what forward to allow her room. This makes my knees kinda touch the glove box. It really only is a problem if shes is fussy, and does not want anything near her. (Instead of hearing her fuss I move it....sometimes.)

Reliability & durability

We purchased the vehicle new in June 2012. Around Oct I noticed a bubble on the lower half of the steering wheel. It did not bother me until I seen a thread was starting to come undone. We showed the dealer and they said to monitor it, and if it gets worse come back in. On a weekend trip it came undone more. Once back in town we took it in, and they scheduled to replace it. They did so under warranty with not problems. Besides this One problem the vehicle as been flawless. With just over 40k miles on the vehicle we both say we would get another one. Problem is I told the wife she MUST wait tell 150k miles to get a new vehicle.

Interior styling

No complaints. Everything works great, and looks great.

Materials & workmanship

A+

Why Not the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta?

Powertrain performance

I have been building race cars for awhile, and the wife had a "Sports Car" before this. It is not a rocket ship, but it will spin all the way through first ;-) The twin disc 6 speed auto is extreamly smooth, and works flawlessly. I have had the vehicle to 132mph and it seemed to want to keep going ( It does start to pull Much slower after 115mph. Again it well not win races, but it has more then enough power to pass at 60-70mph. All in all it works well as a "Mommy Mobile".

Tires

Just over 40k miles and tires are almost at the wear bar. I am currently pricing/researching for new tires. Stock size are 225/45/17, I will be moving to a 234/55/17 which will be a little wide but will have a thicker side wall. I believe this will look better as I do not like the fender gap the stock size has. I also am not into lowering a vehicle unless it is my Track car ( This by far is not. Stock size pricing is $125-$150 for a good tire. Their are GREAT tires in the $170-$200 range but do not see the benefit for the cost. Tires I am looking at are the Pirelli P6 Four Seasons Plus in size 235/55/17 for $130 ea rated for 45k miles.

Conclusion

Will by another one unless we have another child. Then Momma wants a Tahoe (there goes my paycheck on fuel)
