This will be a short follow up on my initial impressions.
First, as many reviews have stated, the propiatory plug for the iPhone is a bit of a pain. The attached cord is very heavy duty, (probably will not crack), but is hard to manuver back into the compartment.
This center console compartment itself is too small to be very useful, just a few packs of gum and a travel sized kleenex and it's filled!
My wife has complained about the B pillar obstructing her view during a lane change due to it's width. I have not noticed that much.
Materials & workmanship
Having driven this vehicle only about 1000 miles so far this will be a limited review. We purchased this as a replacement for a 96' Pathfinder. My wife wanted something a bit smaller.
Fuel economy is trending up starting at 19.2 MPG, last fill was at 23.2 MPG, mixed driving.
Fit and finish on this vehicle is superb, one of the reasons we liked it so much.
Back cargo space is somewhat small when compared to the pathfinder, but adequate. It's really closer to one of my 03' GTI's!
Though it does not have voice activated navigation, this has not been a problem, it has a pretty good search database, and able to find the destination without to much trouble.
The Knowing Your VW website has a number of good basic videos to show operation, I reccomend viewing them.
Ride smoothness
Bought the R line trim, it comes with 19" rims and low profile tires. I find the ride a little more harsh than I expected, not bad, just different.
