Safety & braking

After a very serious crash in my previous 1990 BMW 525i in which is was very lucky to have lived, I did extensive research about auto safety. The S80 is the safest (by ratings) large sedan sold in the US.

Front seat support & comfort

Excellent lumbar support and almost infinate power adjustments help my probelms with episodic low back pain.

I purchased this 2007 S80 in 3/08 at at $10,000 discount off of MSRP.

Interior styling

The interior is a fresh and visually compelling update to prior sedate and tasteful past Volvo interiors. The interior is similar to high end Scandnavian furniture with a modern but light touch.

Powertrain performance

Acceleration is adequate and completely reasonable but this is not a preformance car by any stretch of the imagination. I have the active chassis with three settings that are largely indistinguishable from each other.

Insurance cost

Insurance costs are relatively low however depreciation has been steep.

Fuel economy

Very good fuel economy overall but running the AC continuously does produce a noticeable 2-3 mpg decrease in fuel economy.
