Jun 2008 US $450 Rear brakes started to make a lot of noise very quickly. At times, grinding noise continued even though no apply brake pressure. Car had not been driven much in last 10 days.
Nov 2009   Car had been doing a light whistling noise under moderate acceleration usually between 5 and 20 MPH. Then transmission alert came on. After restart, transmission worked fine. Took to transmission specialist. Replaced all wearable for $1,800.
Dec 2009   Replaced broken top engine mount ($85).
Oct 2011   Rebuilt the sunroof drains at base of A pillar to eliminate the flow restrictions (remove original drain connection at bottom of A-pillar, replaced with open tubing). Needed because the original drains self-destroyed & plugged.
Jan 2012   fuel filler door does not lock anymore unless engaged by hand radio (AM/FM only) temporarily stopped working twice, operational at present.
Feb 2012   With help of super neighbor, replaced rotors and pads on front wheels with NAPA parts. So much cheaper, not hard to do with a proper tool to pull the old rotors, working very well with NAPA brakes, less black dust.
Jun 2012   Alarm siren has been out for a few months. Not replaced to date. Problem reported with radio has not reappeared. Original battery still in good conditions after 8 years (a few Low Battery warnings ignored since 2008).
Sep 2013   Coolant is leaking. In searching for leaks, mechanic noted that a turbocompressor oil leak weakened two short cooling system hoses. Replaced those hoses. Tightens another cooling hose to stop leak. Leak slowed, not all the way gone yet Ventilation fan failed. Mechanic said the HVAC controller had failed, most likely from an overamped fan motor (known failure). Replaced fan motor and controller.
Dec 2013   Coolant leak continues. Found leak at the upper radiator connection. Replaced upper hose. Still leaking under pressure, identified a likely crack at the radiator connection. Radiator needs to be replaced. Keeping pressure off to avoid leak
Jun 2014   Master cylinder failed (slow repsonse to pedal). Replaced. All is back to normal.
Sep 2014   Water pump started to leak badly. Having the level sensor of the coolant was extremely valuable to manage the leak while traveling. Since it was almost time for a new timing belt, that was done too, minimizing the actual cost of the repair.
Volvo XC90 in Brunei Darussalam
Oct 2008 - Mar 2010
Nov 2008   Transmission require urgent message incidator appeared.
