Car Reliability Survey: which 2010 cars are most troublesome?

West Bloomfield, MI August 16, 2010 -- TrueDelta's Car Reliability Survey results, just updated to include owner experiences through the end of June 2010, suggest that few 2010 cars are troublesome, and that even fewer are likely to remain this way. But some manufacturers appear to identify and fix problems better and more quickly than others.

Among the 38 2010 car models covered, few are "worse than average." Exceptions include the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Jaguar XF, and Volkswagen Golf and Jetta SportWagen TDI (diesel). The redesigned Ford Taurus narrowly avoided a similar rating.

To their credit, Ford and Volkswagen appear to have identified and fixed a common problem with their cars. In the case of the 2010 Taurus, about half of the reported repairs were for chrome trim peeling off the tail lights. For the VW diesels, it was a problematic oxygen sensor.

The 2010 Genesis Coupe continues to worsen, though it could improve with the second model year. The Genesis sedan has improved in its second model year.

The 2010 Jaguar XF is already in its second model year, and has not improved compared to the 2009 a year ago.

TrueDelta promptly updates its car reliability statistics four times a year, so any improvements in these cars' reliability--or declines in the reliability of other models--will become evident soon after they occur.
