Why the 2008 smart fortwo?

Reliability & durability

Five-star safety rating in the U.S. The durability in Europe has been exceptional. Although this is the first year in the United States (2008 model), it has a high reliability rating in Europe.

Brand reputation & image

The smart car is made by Daimler, who makes Mercedes-Benz. Daimler has a very high brand and image reputation and it shows in their smart car division.

Why Not the 2008 smart fortwo?

Audio & nav systems

The radio could have been better. They need rear speakers for a full sound. I replaced my factory radio with an in-dash navigation system and added two rear 4" coaxial speakers. That made all the difference in the world.

Powertrain performance

I am not a big fan of this "manual-matic" transmission. I prefer to have a clutch pedal as it complements the fun factor in driving. This is a personal preference and other smart owners love the current configuration. For me, the shifting is too slow.
