6-speed shiftable automatic FWD		 Many people probably decided on a Kia, and specifically a Sportage over other makes and models because of the advertised fuel economy numbers. Since day one, this vehicle ALWAYS, I want to stress ALWAYS, underachieves advertised mpg numbers. Took 2 round trips that were 360 miles one way, ALL highway, and best mpg were 26.2. That is 6 mpg LESS than advertised, and even with new EPA ratings, still 4 less. When driving a combination of 1/2 highway, 1/2 suburbs, attain 21-23 mpg which is less than "combined" mpg rating. Haven't driven an entire tank of city driving, but after measuring MPG for mostly suburb driving, get 17-19 mpg which is 3-5 mpg less than advertised city rating. Another fairly obvious "why not to buy," for either car: fuel economy. The tested Camaro scored 16 mpg city and 25 mpg highway in the EPA's tests, slightly better than the Mustang's 15/25. The automatic has an even taller top gear and when paired with it the V8 can deactivate four cylinders, so it manages 17 mpg city, 28 mpg highway--the latter figure as high as that for the Camaro V6 automatic (19/28). For significantly better fuel economy it's necessary to get the 2.0-liter turbo, which scores 21/30 with a manual and 22/31 with an automatic. In my 300-odd miles of driving I averaged 16.5 mpg. If I drove with a light foot I could coax the average slightly over 20. I observed similar real-world numbers in the Mustang. On a 70-mph highway the Camaro averaged 24.5, but there might have been a modest headwind. The Mustang averaged 28 in my highway driving. Overall, both achieve very good fuel efficiency for cars of their weight and horsepower, but praise doesn't come much fainter. see full Chevrolet Camaro review

8-speed shiftable automatic RWD		 Surprisingly, this 455hp car, with a 6.2L V8 -- that's 378 cubic inches -- gets decent gas mileage. It averages just over 20mpg, for which I credit the cylinder shutoff feature. So far it's been pretty common to look at the dash when I'm just beetling across town and see that it's in V4 mode, and getting 40 or 50mpg, as long as I'm keeping my right loafer rather light. see full Chevrolet Camaro review
