2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Extended Cab 6.5ft bed

285-horsepower 5.3L V8 4-speed automatic RWD

US $200 The original fuel pump had been acting up ever since the truck had around 50,000 miles on it; The electric motor in it was occasionally noisy and loud when running - kind of like the sound or bad bearings (bushings) and the fuel gauge often didn't always register correctly and sometimes, not at all. I do understand that this is a very common problem with this year (2001) Silverado's. GM should have issued a recall for the fuel pump - but didn't... I replaced the pump with a brand new AC-Delco - just like the original. After a fairly short period of time the new fuel pump began acting up (gauge not registering correctly or not at all) just the same as the one I replaced it with. I've decided to just live with it rather than replace it with another pump that would be just as defective as the two previous ones are/were.....
