Slave cylinder failed causing clutch to fail. Slave cylinder and whole clutch were replaced. Volvo North America paid for about $2000 of repair, I was responsible for $513. Not a bad deal considering car was out of warranty (in service in Febuary 2004)
65500 mi Squealing noise noticed at idle, I assumed it was related to serpentine belt, but unfortunately it was failed clutch Pilot Bearing/Throwout Bearing. Replaced clutch assembly (including still serviceable clutch plate). The day after I got car home from clutch replacement I found puddle under transmission. Returned to dealer. Failed angle gear seal (I feel it was damaged during clutch replacement) but dealer submitted as claim to extended warranty for $397 Transmission was leaking AGAIN, returned to dealer. they cleaned off leaking fluid, added dye to gearbox to find source of leak, told me to return when I see drips on garage floor. Has not started leaking yet. Perhaps filler plug was loose?
69000 mi Clutch replaced 9 months ago after which angle gear oil leak immediately occurred. Now angle gear leaking again. Dealer didn't know why it was leaking but replaced the "crown seal"; told me to take it home and watch fur further leak.
