2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 2dr Coupe

242-horsepower 3.9L V6 4-speed automatic FWD

68000 mi Replaced the intermediate steering shaft for the second time in two years. Not a fun job to do, especially from the underside of the vehicle. Everything is hard to see and get to, so I was working blind during parts of the the removal/replacement process. Part had lifetime warranty, so no cost to me.
72000 mi

US $100
The factory original wheel bearing hub assembly on driver's side was starting to get noisy and from past experience I could tell it was time to replace it. I probably waited too long to replace it because it must have gotten hot, heated up and welded itself in place. It was very hard to remove the old wheel bearing hub assembly, which took a majority of the time spent repairing the vehicle.
35340 mi

C $340
the control arm bushings needed to be replaced

The power steering started marking loud whining noises when turning while driving. The fluid was foamy. I replaced the power steering pump and replaced all the fluid as well.
39000 mi Entire steering rack had to be replaced due to clunk and leakage of fluid.
69000 mi

US $998
Intermediate steering shaft replaced. Clunking noise while turning. This is a common thing on GMs and I had put off the repair for 8 months since it was not critical, just annoying.  While working on this shop determined also that right front wheel bearing was loose and needed replacement.
4500 mi

US $150
Power steering hose leak.
20300 mi Power steering gear leaking fluid. Rear sway bar creaking. Both replaced.
