Harsh 2nd to 1st gear downshift. Showed a Code P0756, shift solenoid issue read by my code scanner. Lexus of Pleasanton verified the code and told me I needed a new transmission. BS. Most Lexus forums state that its likely due to the ECU which governs the transmission. Not happy with the fact that they want me to spend $5000.00 when they could check something as simple as the ECU.

Lexus diagnosed my GS300 as having a bad transmission. I checked the Lexus forums and found that there was a possibility that the electronic control module may be the issue. I removed the module and had it sent out for repair with a note about harsh transmission shifts. Repair facility stated that the ECM also controls the transmission. They replaced a circuit on the ECM board and sent it back. I reinstalled the ECM and now it runs fine. It galls me that Lexus is not aware of the issue!

Check VSC Engine lights on. "P2757 - Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Solenoid Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off" Common Problem for this 2006 lexus gs 300. Not the solenoid problem. Transmission must be replaced. Too costly fix. complete replacement for the transmission. one dealer gave me the 75% discount on the transmission. Otherwise, $5000-$6000 job.
