The steering lock mechanism went out. Causing car to not start. 
34300 mi I noticed a clicking sound when breaking at low speeds. The dealer checked and found no serious problems but cleaned and lubed the mechanism. This eliminated the noise temporarily, but I notice it has returned a few weeks later.

HAD TO BUY NEW SPRING KITS FOR REAR BRAKES. REAR BRAKES ARE DRUM TYPE. HAD BROKEN HOLD DOWN PIN. RESULTED IN HOLD DOWN SPRING RIDING INSIDE DRUM. THUS, IN ORDER TO REPLACE SPRING AND PIN HAD TO BUY COMPLETE KIT.

ESCL Failure. This is a known problem with the Nissan Cube 2009 group. The Electronic Steering Control Lock was originally replaced under warranty in 2010; this is the second failure in this specific car. The cost was about $2100. I had to have a replacement key fob and paid $280 for this. Additionally, I had the alternator belt replaced.
