I came in with "rattling" when accelerating. Most often occurred when accelerating uphill. They diagnosed and recommended Brake pads, rotors, drums, and hydraulic lines to be replaced. This didn't fix the issue, but brakes felt better, and I don't feel like there's as much slippage after.
168000 mi

US $896
Replaced front / rear rotors and breaks.
318000 mi

84000 mi

US $150

74000 mi

US $478
we were getting our vehicle ready for state inspection.
43000 mi When applying brakes before starting car, sometimes car will roll after shifting out of park unless brakes are released and reapplied. May be related to boost pump building pressure and timing of initial application.
81300 mi

£50
Excessive wear rear left wheel brake pads. Caused by sticking calliper.
99000 mi

£50
Binding rear brakes, causing excessive wear on pads. Need to go to dealer to get this fixed
4000 mi Reflash of ABS braking computer to resolve braking issues. Done under recall protocol. Braking problem under recall still exists. Dealer claims it is "normal" behavior.
8000 mi Car surges ahead while braking and passing over rough pavement or bumps.
10000 mi The car surges ahead while slowing down and going over rough pavement. The regenerative braking cuts out and there is a lag until the friction braking takes hold. Factory rep admits that the car behaves that way, but "they all do."
16000 mi Continuing issue with release of brakes when car goes over rough pavement. Regen braking stops and car surges ahead until friction brakes take hold. Regen stays off until car stops.
48700 mi Car "surges" ahead while braking on uneven surfaces.
54300 mi Brake pedal made a "moaning" noise when depressed slowly.
5000 mi Problem: Noticeable loss of braking when system switched from regen to friction due to a loss of traction. Loss duration less than one second, but the effect was perceived as undesired acceleration. A computer system reflash (AOB) fixed problem.
2000 mi HSA did not engage about half the time over 70 miles when pedal fully depressed. I was told "could not replicate the problem" and brakes have worked properly since.
111098 mi

US $853
Replaced front pads and rotors--worn down to metal. Replaced rear pads and resurfaced drums at 5mm. Cleaned and freed stuck pins.
3000 mi Repaired issue of ABS engaging when going over bumpy roads. This occurred a few times for us before we had the flash done. Recall.
40000 mi

US $80
Mileage had decreased to about 37 mpg. Removed, cleaned, & rebuilt rear brake calipers & problem appears to be resolved.
10000 mi intermittent loss of braking at low speed over rough roads. occasionally brakes fail for about 1 second when braking on rough surfaces at speeds below 15 MPH
97100 mi Re call on brake programming
140000 mi

US $890
Caliper stuck, rotor worn, replace rotors on axle, replace caliper
16000 mi They changed the pump. It has resulted in increasing noise when braking, but the car no longer lurches forward when braking. Returned for a 2 hour visit follow up where the dealer said it was safe. Repair took 4hrs. Not happy.
50800 mi

US $3100
Brake master cylinder/ABS unit failed. Part alone is $2700! I heard a squealing noise traced to the brake booster pump, dealership took almost two weeks to get part and replace. Toyota will not provide any consideration/compensation.
11000 mi I started getting a weird brake noise with my 2010 Prius at about 300 miles. It makes a barking noise if I suddenly brake and will continue to do it for some time afterward. Earlier models had this problem. I am annoyed dealer didn't fix it
78600 mi

C $711
Rear brake calipers ceased causing rear wheels to drag. Calipers were replaced including pads.
155000 mi

C $10
Metal brake line rusted through (Driver's rear) at metal fitting on solid line coming from the engine area. Toyota would not even quote me an estimate to repair. So I took apart the fitting, shortened the metal line by an inch, re-crimped the line (special tool required) and refitted all. Just required a refill of the brake fluid.
70000 mi I had noticed some sounds and a feeling in the brake pedal for many months that were indicators of a brake problem. Over that time, I attempted to identify the cause with no luck. These 2 indicators stopped after the brake booster recall was performed.
25420 mi bolt fell off that holds e brake cable on
57120 mi

C $120
Rear brake pads wore prematurely due to one of the pads seizing up because of corrosion. Pads and rotors replaced, sliders lubricated. Pads would have lasted longer if the sliders had been lubricated earlier.
122760 mi

C $25
Rear brakes were almost all stuck. I knew they had this issue when I bought the car, I removed them only once and did it quickly. This time, I removed and greased everything, it was stuck. Did with father. Pads also replaced - 25$(not Toyota Rear brakes were almost all stuck. I knew they had this issue when I bought the car, I removed them only once and did it quickly. 81000 mi

US $450
Rear Brakes.
95000 mi

US $280
Replaced the brakes that were not done last year. Front, I think.
44000 mi

US $10
MPG went down. I inspected braked during tire rotation. 2 front slide pins were stuck, 1 near stuck. Uneven pad wear. The rear slide pins were OK, but even more abnormal pad wear. I suspect poor rear brake design and poor pin greasing.
67900 mi

US $200
Rear brake pads were not retracting properly. Pads were constantly rubbing on rotors.
21000 mi while driving transient master warning electronic brake failure skid failure AbS failure PCS failure indications lasting 5min with some loss of braking effectiveness. diagnostic code reported right front wheel speed sensor failure with history code C1235.
50000 mi

US $1000
Wife noted bad scraping sounds from rear. Further interrogation reveals very poor gas mileage in past month or so. Inspection shows rear passenger brake rotors with surface corrosion and no shiny areas unlike the other brake rotors. In addition, rotor itself was warm to touch. Internet search suggested seized calipers, confirmed by mechanic who recommended changing both calipers, replace rotors and pads, and dressing and replace brake fluid which he suggested might have been contaminated when water and cause of the problem. After repair, noise is gone and gas mileage returned to normal.
