At my last oil change it was reported that one side rear brake pads were down to 4mm. This was after new pads the year before. All other pads were well within tolerance. Within a week I could hear scraping. Removed rear passenger side tire and braked and inner pad was worn almost down to the backing plate. Tried to push piston back in to fit new pads but the piston was seized in the caliper. Couldn't find a new one in my area within 2 days wait at a cost of $150.00 plus 450.00 core charge. Found a good used one at Used Parts place for $40.00. Installed, bled the air out of line and am now back on the road. Not a difficult job at all if you have a floor jack and jack stands. |
