Ignition system went totally haywire. Got "Keyless system malfunction" error codes (no start), OBD codes relating to ABS and SBCS systems, throttle bottle and starter clicking constantly after the car was turned off. Most concerningly it ended up devolving into a situation where we could not turn off the engine without pulling a fuse. The car would cycle through "off," accessory, and on modes inside (gauges, accessories, etc.), but the engine remained on and running the whole time. I was able to usually return the car to a drivable by disconnecting the battery and waiting long enough for the ECU to reset. The vehicle spent days at the dealer but they were unable to find anything wrong. We ended up trading the vehicle in for another brand. Some research I did indicated it might be related to multiple TSBs related to the ignition system for 2013-early 2014 CX-5s. The car was unsafe...should've been a recall. |
