184-horsepower 2.5L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
45000 mi | Transmission whined when going over 20 mph, the transmission was replaced. |
90000 mi | No parts have been replaced yet but at 90k miles the automatic transmission has started slipping when it shifts from 3rd to 4th. Only does it on the first shift on a cold engine so I'm going to try and milk it for a while. Also when I changed the spark plugs, cylinder 1 had oil on the plug so a seal is failing in the head. The car is driven 80 miles on the interstate everyday so I did not expect any major problems for another couple years. Very disappointing. Now I see why people buy boring Camry's. This is my first Mazda. |
67000 mi US $50 |
Gearbox plastic came loose, causing the pieces to get jammed every time going into park. 50$ repair for the plastic pieces to be replaced. |
54000 mi US $580 |
Problem with shifter assembly - bad solenoid. When I put the car in park sometimes was not registering that it was in Park and so would not shut off the car fully. Replaced the whole thing. |
131000 mi US $300 |
Axle seal leak passenger side |
184-horsepower 2.5L I4 6-speed manual FWD
7000 mi | Shifting was sticky. Replaced bushings in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears. |
8900 mi | New bushings had been installed in 2nd - 5th gears in February under warranty. Since then, 4th gear exhibits a vibration in the gearshift around 2000 rpm. During the most recent oil change, I complained, but was told this is normal. |
7000 mi | This is 2nd time this repair has been attempted. 3rd and 4th, and 5th & 6th gear clutch packs and bushings are being replaced. Notchy shifting of manual trans. Vibration of shift lever in 4th gear. Whole transmision was replaced. |
