Error message read "Stop Car, leave engine running". That didn't help, so took car to dealer. Testing showed starter battery needed replacement. After that was done Start-Stop (previously reported) started working again.
10000 mi MB is going semi-autonomous - repairs don't necessarily fit into standard categories - and in fact crosses over several systems. Seriously need to consider a new category - this is the future and it's problematic. 360 degree camera control was replaced (but improperly aligned). It interact with Lane Keeping Assist, Steering Assist, Braking and I have no idea what else . Driver assist systems quit when this fails
14000 mi Another attempt to repair the Steering Assist function of the Distronic Cruise Control, and Start Stop. Dealer assured me not that all was well, but that it was good as it was going to get. Left dealer, engaged the Steering Assist, and cruised right off the side of the road. Appearently self driving is farther off than we might think. With lowered expectations I bought a second Mercedes, but didn't go for the Distronic System, a must have option if it worked. That problem solved, the new car convinces me that the start/stop on the 2016 simply doesn't work, hasn't worked in months, while the new car hasn't missed a day yet. M-B gets it in their mind that something works fine there's nothing a customer can say or do to change their mind.
