The dealer stated that the exhaust heat recovery system valve failed, causing a coolant leak into the catalytic converter. Requires exhaust system replacement for the affected valve. 3rd party, an Independent shop, mentioned that the part is a common fail point for gen 4. The only symptom was a chronic low coolant, slow leak. Over time this will damage the cat if the problem is ignored by topping off the fluids. |

Ignition coil 1 was failing during light acceleration. Reported error code was misfire in cilinder 1. Once deleted it didn't show up again, even when the problem was still there physically. Dealer misdiagnosed it first as dirt in the intake and injectors, so a cleaning of the intake valve and injectors was performed first, with no results, but charged for it. After more diagnosis, they found the ignition coil for cilinder one defective, and was replaced with the next one in the combustion cycle as recommended by Toyota. Problem was solved. |
