460-horsepower 5.0L V8 6-speed manual RWD
4000 mi | Check engine light came on at approx. 4000 miles and stayed on for about a week. Reason from FordPass App was "engine control system has detected the intake manifold runner control valve is not operating as expected and requires service" Car did go into a "limp mode" until the light cleared. No local Ford dealer could see the car for at least a month after the light came on, and light turned off after around a week. No diagnostic was successful because all Ford dealers refused to look at the car once the check engine light turned off. |
5000 mi | Check engine light illuminated at approx 5000 miles for two codes per the FordPass app. Those were "engine control system has detected the intake manifold runner control valve is not operating as expected and requires service" and "the powertrain control system has detected that it is unable to fully open or close the upper active grille shutters". This is the 2nd time that the 1st issue tripped a check engine light (from Aug 2021). Both codes cleared within 3 or so days. Car did not appear to go into a "limp mode" this time. Ford dealers had no availability to look at the car when the check engine light was on and refused to see it after the light was off. |
8855 mi | Check engine light on P2015. Performed tests and inspected the intake manifold and wiring and no damage found. Testing indicated it was an intermittent concern. Reassembled and road tested and code went away. No actual repair was performed that aware of. This is the 3rd time a check engine light has come on for the intake manifold runner control, but the 1st time it was actually looked at while the light was on. |
