A simple job except the proper method/ requirement to remove the 5' fuel tank from under the truck, requiring jacking up and supporting a 3-4' added height (if you do not happen to own a lift) of the rear of vehicle in order to disconnect fittings as well as remove the tank to access the fuel pump installed on top of the tank. Many have cut an access panel in rear drivers side passenger floorboard area to bypass this step (and risking damage to the tank/components and/or cause a fire/explosive risk cutting said hole with the tank in place. Best approach for the hatch (which should have been installed by the factory) would be to both cut and install a hatch door while the tank has been removed...which appears most folks do not due and run a major risk for something that may happen once or twice in the vehicles life. Current A/C Delco replacement pump (do not buy a cheap pump...for obvious reasons) has been running for ~40,000 miles, no issues since. A PITA job but otherwise IMO not the end of the world just an inconvenience for an otherwise highly dependable vehicle. | ||
