The truck had been pulling to the right side, an alignment was paid for and within 500 miles, the pulling returned. Dealership diagnosed the tie rods being bad, replaced the tie rods and refunded alignment cost. Also replaced intermediate steering shaft. The front driver window literally fell into the door, as a result the regulator was replaced.

Number 5 injector failed according to computer. I ordered the fuel injector assembly from Rock auto, I ordered the entire part that included all of the injectors and the regulator. The mechanic put it on my truck and put it all back together, but when he started it to see if it was going to run good he said it started pouring gas. After calling the Chevrolet dealership he found out that on the 2006 4.3 liter motor has no return line from the injector assembly regulator to the gas tank, on some but not all of 2006 trucks. Well I could not send it back because It had been installed and gas had run through it so he had to take the injectors out of the new assembly and put it in the new assembly and he said it was very had. The mechanic did get it done and it is running as good as new.

Another appointment made with dealer to try yet again. Dealer added UV dye to transmission fluid to try to pinpoint source of persistent transmission leak. Sent truck back home with me, with yet another appointment to return truck next week to try and find leak with a blacklight. $5 transmission pan gasket was replaced. Diagnosing this took 4 visits. Leak was finally repaired during this visit.

Feb 2010 US $200	The original fuel pump had been acting up ever since the truck had around 50,000 miles on it; The electric motor in it was occasionally noisy and loud when running - kind of like the sound or bad bearings (bushings) and the fuel gauge often didn't always register correctly and sometimes, not at all. I do understand that this is a very common problem with this year (2001) Silverado's. GM should have issued a recall for the fuel pump - but didn't... I replaced the pump with a brand new AC-Delco - just like the original. After a fairly short period of time the new fuel pump began acting up (gauge not registering correctly or not at all) just the same as the one I replaced it with. I've decided to just live with it rather than replace it with another pump that would be just as defective as the two previous ones are/were.....

Also the drivers side tank of the radiator was cracked and leaking. (Don't you just love that plastic junk?) I took the radiator to a repair shop and they installed a new tank to replace the cracked one. They also rodded out the radiator and I re-installed it and have had no leaks or problems since. Replaced the belt tensioner as it's bearings were noisy. Replaced the surpentine belt idler as it's bearings were noisy. The driver's side reservoir of the radiator (which is made of plastic) developed a small crack and was leakin. A local radiator repair shop removed the old reservoir and installed a new one and rodded it out too for $85. & 1 year warranty.
