Reviewed: 2004 Dodge Dakota

4dr Crew Cab 5.5ft bed 230-horsepower 4.7L V8 5-speed automatic RWD

Why the 2004 Dodge Dakota?

Reliability & durability

80K miles and still going great on drivability and roadworthiness

Powertrain performance

very reliable and consistent performance from engine and transmission regardless of conditions or load

Price or payments

Got a great deal (around $20K new in 2004) and have had no car payment while I see friends and colleagues pouring a lot of money into loan or lease payments

Brand reputation & image

In 2004 when I bought it, the Dakota was the biggest, most powerful mid-size truck available - great compromise of full-size performance in a mid-size package

Why Not the 2004 Dodge Dakota?

Materials & workmanship

A lot of interior trim falling apart - dealer-only parts that are ridiculously expensive, so I tape things together and keep going

Feature availability

More interior refinement would be nice

Audio & nav systems

Audio system is decent but nothing to get excited about - no navigation on this model
