Replaced gear shift knob. The metallic plating was flaking off and very sharp. Hyundai refused to cover this as an "impact" caused problem. That is BS as all of the plating was coming off and had never been "impacted." Rear view mirror replaced due to flaking of mirror surface. Hyundai replaced it under warranty. The clutch assembly needed replacement with only 80,000 Kilometers (50,000 miles). Hyundai refused to cover this even though there was evidence of uneven wear on the pressure plate. Driven MT cars for almost 50 years and never had a problem.

Harsh 2/3 gear shift of automatic transmission. Started at 35,000 kms. Now have 50,000kms. Replacing Transmission valve body and cleaning computer contacts did not fix issue. According to information 3 % of owners have experience transmission problems at low KMS. My car is typical. Can anyone tell me what the problems was, and how to fix it. It usually happens when the car has been sitting overnight or the first shift after the car was driven for a while and sitting. Changing the valve body for the transmission did not correct the problem, The computer contacts were also cleaned. At 50,000 kms still have the issue. After the car engine and transmission heat up, the tranmission shifts fine in all gears including the 2/3 shift.

Car wouldn't start; diagnosed as low compression by a local mechanic, the car was able to be started (pressure magically came back up?), and I drove it to a mechanic I trust. Their inspection identified a leaking valve cover gasket, a failed oxygen sensor, as well as that the car was overdue for replacement of its spark plugs, timing belt, and oxygen sensors; and that, additionally, thedrive belts were both in very bad shape. All of these (valve cover gasket, oxygen sensors, plugs, and belts) were replaced.
