Reviewed: 2007 Hyundai Elantra

4dr Sedan 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD

Why the 2007 Hyundai Elantra?

Ride smoothness

SE better than all others tested, esp. Mazda3 and Civic. Elantra GLS had 195/65R15, SE had 205/65R16. SE handles better with no obvious loss of ride but a bit less tire "boing" when hitting bumps.

Rear seat room & comfort

Rear set has an upright feel, mor like a couch than most cars, esp GM products.

Price or payments

Rebate allowed this car to be had, including extended warrantyu if desired, for about $1000 less than most comparable Totyate Corolla LE. Honda was no where near close ($3000 more).

Dealer practices

No purchase pressure to speak of. However Hyundai presses for review of sales methods and sales force asked for high reviews to help in their ratings. Hyundai did not send us any survey.
