Used Elantras are quite cheap. Any car of the same year/size/class with the same features/options would cost significantly more.
The hatchback version has fantastic cargo capacity. I moved recently and carried a coffee table and a bookshelf (not at the same time) in this car.
Never had any mechanical problems since I bought it at 83,000 miles. It now has 128,000 miles. The worst problem it has had was a leak of power steering fluid which was fixed for under $20.
All the controls are simple, well placed, and easy to identify. I accomplish anything I want in 5 seconds or less with minimal distraction from the road.
