Reviewed: 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe

4dr SUV 276-horsepower 3.5L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD

Why the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Powertrain performance

Excellent acceleration, 0-100kmh in under 7.5 seconds. Good sounding engine.

Warranty, maintenance cost

One of the longest warranties in the business, plus cheap extended warranties.

Handling

Car-like handling generally. Easy to manoeuvre at low speeds. Feels smaller than it is.

Audio & nav systems

Very very good Infinity 10 speakers surround system at the price. Compares favorably to systems in far more expensive cars. Very easy to use as well.

Price or payments

One of the lowest priced vehicles in its category (similarly equipped). Excellent interest rates. Dealers willing to negotiate.

Why Not the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Front seat support & comfort

Short seats, not very supportive at the sides. Strangely lumpy backrest.

Fuel economy

Guzzles in stop and go traffic. ECO indicator is just that and not entirely believable at that.

Materials & workmanship

Interior material feel slightly cheap and dated. A lot of hard plastics. Not as bad as some competitors (cr-v, Venza, Equinox) but should be as good as the Sonata.
