Introduction

The Santa Fe is a stylish, comfortable car. Have had drivetrain/steering/transfer case issues all recalled by manufacturer. Exhaust system maxed out after 8 years and now requires $6000 in parts alone to repair.

Why the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Exterior styling

The look of this vehicle is fantastic. However, the black paint has developed oxidation in the past two years.

Interior styling

Grey leather interior has no signs of wear after 11 years. Stays nice with little maintenance.

Color choices

At the time of purchase there were limited color choices/combinations. The Black/Grey was the most attractive.

Handling

Handles like a dream. Isn't too top-heavy. Didn't experience tipping or fear of rollover.

Front seat room

Excellent roominess in the front bucket seats.

Why Not the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Powertrain performance

Multiple recall problems and issues over the years requiring days at the dealer.

Safety & braking

ABS is sensitive and engages when not necessary. Began to fail/wear after 10 years.

Quietness

Must have radio on to drown out road noise.

Feature availability

Limited exterior options at time of purchase.

Tires

Tires wear quickly. Have had to replace every few years.
