Introduction

Bought this car used and have been driving for over 6 months now. Gas mileage is excellent. Drives nice but shifts can be a bit notchy 1st to 2nd when cold. Took a long trip from Toronto to Georgia with 4 adult and roof top carrier with little drama. The 2.0l engine could use a bit more power in the mountains. The manual transmission comes in handy with a less than powerful engine. Over all has been dependable and fun to drive.

2014 Mazda CX-5 Love Letter

If the trip computer is to be believed I saw 5.9l/100km average on a leisurely 300km trip at between 80-110km/hr. On average in the summer it gets 6.7l/100km combined and in winter so far around 7.5 with snow tires and some very cold weather.

The 2.0l engine needs some coaxing, and that where the manual transmission is helpful.
The CX-5 is fairly roomy, went on a long trip Toronto to Georgia and everyone was comfortable.

This is probably not the quietest CUV you can buy but not so bad.

While I don't think body rust will be a problem with the CX-5, I have notices alot of suspension parts etc showing rust. I know thats probably not a problem but at 3 years old they look as old as my 12 year old Civic underneath. You can tell where corners are cut to save money.

Overall this is a fun, comfortable, and so far a reliable vehicle.
