The best - and only - compact family hauler. 2014 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member4498 The 5 has horrible crash ratings. There is no way around it. I don't expect it to be great at tests invented after it was, but the side-impact results? C'mon! Additionally, the brakes are nothing to write home about. They are adequate, but nothing more. Again, just a slight bump up... |
Four years owned, and happy to see it go! 2006 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member2844 Stops quickly and controllably. Those big rotors front and rear really do make a difference (and also force you to be careful in selection of aftermarket wheels). Much better than the bigger minivans that this often replaces. |

2010 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member5073 Good list of standard safety features. Tractions control actually works (tested in South-western Ontario, AKA the snow belt). |

2006 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member4406 Side curtain airbags for front and rear passengers in this price range are tough to find. Plus, designed on the same platform shared with the Volvo S40/V50 |

2006 Mazda Mazda5 Pros and Cons Member139 The brakes are oversized for the vehicle, so it has very controlled stops. It also came with side air bags for all three rows and ABS standard, which were absolute musts for me. |
