US $2500
SRS airbag sensor in driver seat started to intermittently fail at 30,000 miles. Dealership said they couldn’t reproduce and sent me on my way, advising me to take a 1000 mile road trip because I didn’t truly need driver airbag. Sensor went into permanent fault shortly after, and I was 26 days over the 3 year warranty period (still under 32,000 miles) and the dealer quoted $2400 to repair.
40000 mi Front collision radar was putting out an error. Dealer replaced sensor

22000 mi Radio occasionally loses signal. Issue is intermittent, unable to duplicate. As a result, dealer unable to address. Hasn't happened since.
23000 mi Rear liftgate sensor not detecting being open, so the interior lights would not stay on. Dealership identified that the sensor was fine, but the harness that connects it to one of the computers was bad. All issues covered under warranty.
25000 mi Trunk sensor went bad. When trunk opens, it would close back down automatically.

2015 Nissan Pathfinder 4dr SUV

260-horsepower 3.5L V6 CVT 4WD

29000 mi Replace motor for window
33480 mi Front passenger airbag module replaced. The airbag indicator light was on and off without any reason whenever there was weight in the seat. Covered by a recall.
20000 mi Corrosion/buildup at battery terminals was excessive. In the case of the positive terminal, the connecting ring around the terminal had corroded sufficiently that it could no longer maintain a connection. Terminal on vehicle was replaced at no charge under warranty. Battery was not replaced. I deem the battery connectors at the end of the cables that connect to the battery are insufficient thickness. Recommend regular checking/maintenance and removal of corrosion to prolong life.
31620 mi Tachometer oscillated, reading was not steady. Cluster was replaced but mileage was programed incorrectly.

260-horsepower 3.5L V6 CVT 4WD

C $100 I received the following error on the dash: "Parking Sensor Error: See Owners Manual". I found the following info online which helped the dealership pinpoint the issue. http://goo.gl/nlkpPt They have ordered a new Sonar Control Unit for me.
24000 mi The rear parking sensors failed in very cold weather - the control module was replaced. See TSB NTB14-078a
28000 mi Door lock actuator making a Buzz when unlocking. The lock actuator in the drivers side rear door and the fuel filler door were replaced.
24800 mi Key would not lock/unlock doors and back hatch Replaced faulty Electronic Key
25000 mi Cap gad light would not go off, sensor replaced.
8540 mi Very poor AM/FM radio reception. When on the highway the signal is very poor, even when close to the transmitter. They checked the antenna connection and all was good. Could not replicate but was in the shop.
11160 mi The analog fuel gauge is inaccurate. Dealer confirmed that there is a service bulletin and new part needs to be ordered. Will be covered by warranty.
18600 mi Repeated problem with the analog gas gauge being inaccurate. Pursuant to a service bulletin the Instrument Cluster was already replaced. Last time I was in they said it would have to be replaced again. Fortunately, when I made the appointment, with about a month on warranty, the service writer took the time to think about the issue and concluded the problem was likely with the sending unit on the fuel tank. Low and behold when they went to replace the sending unit they found it was broken such that the float could get hung up. Why this wasn't checked earlier, I don't know.
14260 mi The analog gas gauge was very unreliable. Nissan replaced the instrument cluster in an attempt to remedy it.
16400 mi Gas gauge is acting up again. Shows empty even after fill. The instrument cluster needs to be replaced.
18600 mi The FM radio was not working well. It would go to static even when a signal was present. The entire radio/nav system was replaced on warranty. The gas gauge was not accurate. After having already replaced the instrument cluster, and multiple complaints from me, someone finally figured it might be the sending unit. They looked under the vehicle and found out that the lever in the tank which was to read the level was bent and jamming. They replaced it. Now it works fine.
14880 mi Fog light lamp replaced
75020 mi

C $2800
No-start condition, battery checked. Vehicle towed to dealer for repairs. The starter motor was defective and was replaced.
9400 mi Fan went off balance and was causing excessive vibrations. Stopped day before appointment, but an inspection showed that something had passed through the fan, but no repair was needed as object was now gone and there was no damage observed.

79000 mi

US $60
Rear hatch opener assembly fell apart and replaced the whole assembly which includes the release button, camera and chrome trim. Bought piece used on line. Repair even fixed shotty camera that would flicker.
16000 mi Driver's side front running/parking lamp burned out, replaced both. Took over 10 minutes to replace the first time because hard to access enclosure, requires disconnecting battery lead due to the confined space. Probably only take 5 minutes next time.
31700 mi

US $105
Blower motor was making noise and running at reduced speed, not covered under warranty due to being caused by debris in motor.
6000 mi Seat cooler on drivers side not working. Cable had gotten disconnected.
16000 mi Seat belt recall. The airbag warning light would not go out. It is better now, but still comes and goes at times. My wife weighs 100-103lbs and I think she is too light and there is no fix to change the weight threshold.

260-horsepower 3.5L V6 CVT 4WD

3000 mi Problem was passenger airbag sensor sometimes disabled even when an adult was sitting there. The dealer checked the airbag sensor and was unable to reproduce problem. Told me airbag sensors are temperamental and it's normal.
23000 mi The climate control drops out of Auto mode sometimes.
26200 mi OCS seat belt recall repair

19000 mi Recall re: airbag sensor. Didn't always detect a passenger in the front seat. Needed reprogramming.
29500 mi Rear hatch automatic sensor faulty - started to close as soon as liftgate was fully open. Airbag sensor still not working properly. Doesn't always detect passenger.
32700 mi Airbag sensor does not always recognize a passenger in the front seat. This has been an on and off problem since car was purchased. When dealer looked at it the problem didn't show up so no repair was made.
2000 mi Odometer, trip odometer, and shift lever position intermittently fail to display Dealer planned to replace instrument cluster, but apparently only re-programmed odometer. It now remains illuminated when car is running, but is the first thing to light up when door is opened and the last to go off(?).
6000 mi After shutting off engine warning chime sounds randomly for no reason when door is opened. Next time car is to be used remote start will not work and dome lights normally activated on approach do not go on. If chime doesn't sound both work. After transmission was replaced shift linkage is apparently loose even after a return for adjustment. To prevent the above chiming and subsequent failure of remote start etc. the lever has to be very carefully moved into park position.
10800 mi The passenger seat airbag sensor was malfunctioning. It was turned OFF even though an adult was sitting in the seat.
70680 mi

C $1200
Ac compressor total failure Mechanic said it was there is no way this should happen
75000 mi Bluetooth not working properly. Can't answer calls coming in on cell phone; bluetooth disconnects once call is answered, and cell phone must be used by hand to take call. Dealer only willing to state that investigating repair would cost a couple hundred dollars just to diagnose the problem. Could not guarantee it is fixable.
40000 mi airbag sensor
24000 mi Passenger Side Airbag still not working properly
13300 mi intermittent malfunction with parking sensors when using the remote start.
40700 mi Cleaned debris out of HVAC blower motor. Debris included leaves and outside foreign objects.
49000 mi Car would intermittently not accelerate. Dealership suspects faulty brake switch, causing the ECU to cut acceleration after false brake depression. Technicians adjusted brake switch.
11000 mi Passenger airbag failure
17000 mi Passenger airbag sensor does not work consistently.
26200 mi passenger airbag sensor fix.
33000 mi Driver side window stuck open.
23000 mi Side mirrors and seat memory stopped working. The dealer replaced the BCM unit under warranty
2000 mi Passenger seat belt/air bag pressure sensor reset. Dealership reset the sensor and deemed it good to go. Passenger seat belt/air bag pressure sensor reset. Dealership reset the sensor and deemed it good to go.
11700 mi Passenger air bag light coming on when passenger sits while car is in drive. Doesn't seem to happen when car is in park.
55000 mi

US $129
All electronics in the car suddenly stop working. Replaced battery because dealer can't find anything wrong.
58700 mi Same issue reported in March 2015. This time the dealer was able to diagnose it as a bad stereo system causing the problem.
82000 mi Recall on "air bag might failed to deploy".
10000 mi Passengers seat belt light was on with no one in the seat. Dealer replaced the two seatbelt control modules in the passengers seat.
620 mi Seat belt sensor for passenger seat remained on without a passenger. Tail gate replaced. Rear tailgate would open and then close immediately.
2000 mi Passenger side window motor failed, with window half way open. Took vehicle to dealer, dealer had to order parts, replaced window motor and regulator.

When A/C compressor cycled on, you could hear a hiss inside the dash area. Replaced A/C Evaporator, TX valve and O-rings, also replaced heater core while I was in there. The whole dash and metal bracket and wiring had to come out, right to the fire wall to access the leaking A/C evaporator. While removing the 2 coolant lines going to the heater core, through the engine compartment, broke the plastic fittings. No parts available from Napa, Parts Source, or Bumper to Bumper, or Rock Auto but the dealer had the whole heater core line assembly which was $458 CDN. The problem was that the keyless entry did not work. The interior lights also did not work. The auto door locks would only work with the key in the "On" position. I purchased a Secure entry control unit (Keyless entry module) from Ebay for $20 on a whim and installed it. This part is normally $$$ if purchased new. The module was located under the steering wheel column. and once replaced everything worked again.

The blower motor was making horrible noises. It was replaced with a new one purchased online. The replacement was easy. Remove about 9 screws for the glove box. Take out the kick/trim panel along the right side. The blower was held in by 3 bolts and one electrical connection. The new blower works perfectly Dashboard lights were burnt out. The tachometer was no longer lit up at night. Purchased LED bulbs online. The dash was removed by taking out two bolts and removing the steering column cover that was another 3 screws. There were multiple electrical connectors to disconnect. The bulbs come out in their sockets. Two of the 3 sockets ended up breaking partly but were still usable. The LEDs worked but do not provide uniform lighting. There are two "bright spots" one in the speedo at about 10 o'clock and one in the tach at about 2 o'clock.
