Why the 2009 Toyota Corolla?

Driving position & visibility

Better than the Civic or Elantra. Telescopic wheel a plus, especially in comparison to 05-08 Corolla - kept me from buying those; too long a reach to the wheel when the seat was in the right spot. Also, have not had to "get used to" visibilty and view.

Ride smoothness

Smooth ride parallels my 2003 Camry. It will be a pleasure to drive on long trips. Much smoother than the Civic. "Eco-Lux" us a good description, for sure!

Interior styling

The black interior on the S model is much more appealing than the gray and beige offered on other Corolla models and the Civic. Would have bought no ther color!

Why Not the 2009 Toyota Corolla?

Feature availability

No sunvisor extension - useless when the sun is directly to my left. No speed adjustment on the intermittent wiper setting! No under hood pad. All this cheapens the car. Also, cheap tires (Goodyear Eagle RS-A; only 260 treadwear and lousy in snow).

Front seat support & comfort

My right knee/upper calf hits on the side of the console and sometimes gets irritated. The edge of the silver plastic portion could have been designed different/better.

Reliability & durability

I am concerned about the EPS and the new engine design. Although some have disliked the EPS, the jury is still out for me. Plus, will it be reliable long-term? Also, I have read about some oil consumption problems. Hmm ...

Price or payments

More expensive than a Focus (but more car, too, and better resale value for sure).
