Toyota has a great reputation for building quality vehicles with low repair rates.
I thought the fuel economy, for a truck, was excellent. It gets 5mpg better than a Honda Ridgeline.

This may not be the correct category, but I disliked having to determine when I would need 4WD and being able to use 4WD feature only part-time. Not supposed to use 4WD on dry pavement or you risk damage, etc. I went with an AWD Honda Ridgeline.
My 2008 Tacoma started to be a nightmare after about 7 years. I did more repairs to this vehicle than all the Toyotas I have owned combined. By185,000 km I had replaced an alternator, clutch, several serpentine belts, all idler pullies, a caliper, engine oil leaks, and had to do thefront wheel bearings. Plus the AC had to be recharged every year and the frame was rusty but, according to Toyota, not too badly rusted to merit compensation. I decided to trade it in because I was afraid to use it for a long trip. My previous ride was a 4Runner (a Tacoma with a different body). After 300,000 km (the odometer broke) I had a bad U-joint, a bad fuel level sensor, and the rear differential started leaking oil. When I traded in the 4Runner it still had the original clutch. There are plenty signs the currenty generation Tacoma is a bad, reliability wise, as my 2008.
