Why the 2005 Acura TSX?

Handling

Great compromise between handling and ride comfort, especially true after I had swapped the OEM tires for a set of high performance tires. Handled just as well as the Contour SVT it replaced. Only lacking a little on roll-stiffness.

Ride smoothness

Compared to predecessor (2000 Contour SVT), the handling is just as good without the same impact harshness over the potholed California roads. Excellent comfort and low ride noise. Great for roadtrips.

Fuel economy

Getting any where from 24 MPG in rush hour commute with AC on to 31~32 MPG on roadtrips. Averaging better than 26 MPG over 80+ thousand miles in predominately city driving.

Why Not the 2005 Acura TSX?

Safety & braking

The brake rotors warped easily and the front had to be replaced twice within 80K miles. The pedal feel is soft compared to the SVT. The stopping power did increase when I replaced the OEM tires.

Driving position & visibility

The A-pillars are too thick and hinder visibility. Lower glass-to-metal ratio in side profile versus older Honda/Acura models. I guess carmakers confuse poor visibility with a sense of protection (cocooning).
