18000 mi   low oil level warning came on. oil was not low. dealer manipulated engine to reset. dealer did not replace oil sensor. dealer said that it was a software issue and BMW had a fix almost ready to issue. 
31000   rear left wind deflector (under side) broke off sometime last winter...dealer would have replaced at 1 year service but did not have part. It was replaced on same trip as seat rail cover. 
50000   Wind noise from sunroof...roof sealer/gasket needed replacing. was not sealing properly. 
54000   Rear window wiper intermittent since April 08. Finally stopped at a time I could get to dealer. Needs new shaft. This was 2nd week in October. They ordered it from Germany. By 20 November it had not yet arrived. 
60000   Rear window wiper had failed, outside of warranty. Dealer finally got part, replaced. All OK and there was no charge. 
74000   steering wheel lock warning came on unexpectedly. Tech said it was software, and reflashed. However, within a few days the bogus warning was back again. Oil change is due soon and I'll have them look at it again. 
95000 US $100 Front L and R door lock actuators failed (proximate cause was blown fuse because of sticking and general malfunctioning. Replaced actuators and fuse. 
119000   Check engine warning. Four oxygen sensors replaced. Did some routine maintenance at the same time.

8000 mi   replaced passenger-side dash cupholder, which was broken when a passenger's knee bumped it. These cupholders are the typical afterthoughts offered by German carmakers, who don't think people should be drinking or eating in their cars (I happen to agree) 
17000   There was a leak in the vacuum check valve, which caused the brake pedal to be very stiff upon start-up when the car had been sitting overnight. This is a known problem to BMW and on a technical service bulletin. 
21000   Problem of stiff brake pedal upon start-up reoccured about four months after a vacuum check valve was replaced. More than 8 days in the shop -- and a visit by a BMW field engineer -- led them to diaganose a leaking vacuum pump. Pump still on order.

1000 mi   Had "Service engine soon" light come on. Stopped by Schuck's to have it scanned, turned out to be a loose gas cap warning 
10000   Driver mirror was not holding memory positions. Mirror motor was replaced and it has worked perfectly ever since. 
22000   The water pump failed at 21,000 miles. The dash displayed a yellow engine warning light that shortly turned red. Limped the car 0.3 miles home and called the dealer. They had a tow truck come and get the car, diagnosed the problem and fixed it.

3720 mi   About 6 inches of the rear window seal had been heated somehow and looked "cooked". They ordered a new seal, installed it then we had until next day for the glue to dry. 
24800   Check engine light came on and off periodically for about 6 weeks. I thought that retightenng the gas cap solved it but wasn't sure. 
44640   leaking transmission seal Paint was wearing off some interior pleather parts. They chaged the trim parts.

1000 mi   brake pad defected, scarred rotor. replaced both front rotors and one pair of brake pad that was coming apart 
1000   still same problem as first trip. BMW will send rep. Rep will look at parts. 
2000   Dealer stated that the pads are defected and scaring the rotors. This is the third time the pads have gone bad.

2000 mi   BMW Assist could not pick up my location on the GPS. Software reflash needed to correct problem. 
5000   Bubbles appeared in the windshield. Bubbles determined to be in safety glass laminate (appear to be in between the panes of glass) and the windshield has to be replaced. Part on order. 
6000   Windshield replaced under warranty because bubbles formed in the laminate. 
10000   Brake light warning light came on with hard braking. The brake force bulb and bulb housing needed to be replaced, parts ordered. 
10000   Brake force bulb and housing replaced. 
20000   Transmission fluid leaking, replaced sealing sleeve for gearbox casing. Stiff brake pedal when putting into gear, replaced check valve for brake booster. Headlights vibrating when hitting bumps on highway, additional support brackets installed per SIB.  Rattle from mirror cover, cover replaced with new part. 
26000   Electric Steering wheel lock was not engaging correctly, and wouldn't allow me to turn on car sometimes. Yellow warning light present on dash when there would be a lock error. 
28700   Check engine light, reduced power. Code reads vanos issue, found that cam bearing ledges were grooved and had to be replaced. 
49000 US $200 Replaced non-operational wheel speed sensor 
51000   Replaced VANOS intake and exhaust solenoids.
