Introduction

AWD in a 300 is the first option to check. Peroid.

Reviewed: 2009 Chrysler 300

4dr Sedan 250-horsepower 3.5L V6 5-speed shiftable automatic AWD

Why the 2009 Chrysler 300?

Powertrain performance

Bought used in March 2013 with 77k miles, for traveling job. Rented several cars before chosing the 300. Driving 2 to 12 hours for work I wanted a highway cruiser with AWD. 2 weeks after purchasing, we had 13 inches of snow and i live on a 3% grade, it went up the hill with no issues! It just pushed the snow out of the way. The 3.5l is a no speed queen but will push car easily with 500 lbs of tools in the trunk.

Handling

The AWD is stiffer and is based on the S class Benz from what I'm told. RWD versions tend to "eat" tie rods but not my 2009, either they fixed that issue or AWD are different. Had an alignment done in April after Driving to Chicago, after their winter I hit a couple of bad pot holes and wanted it checked out and the tie rods. Still good @ 135K miles.

Quietness

Using the blue tooth @ 75mph with the window cracked and no one knows I'm on the it! Good driving position and seats even after 12 hours of driving. Can Drive this car for 6 hours get out and work for 6 hours with no fatigue.

Why Not the 2009 Chrysler 300?

Fuel economy

Average 23mpg overall. Temperatures under 30 degrees and the AWD is always on and got 19mpg on the highway. Not bad for a 4400lb car, not good if you pay for gas.

Feature availability

Trying to find a used AWD v-6 300 proved scarce. Could not find one with all the optionsI wanted (steering wheel controls, back up camera, color, mine is that hooker red, you can find it in the dark).

Driving position & visibility

Good driving position but poor rear visibilty, small windows BIG blind spots, have to check twice to change lanes
