Introduction

Why the 2003 Hyundai Elantra?

Reliability & durability

I bought this car new in Nov, 2003 and still have it. Other than routine maintenance including 2 timing belt replacements (preventative) at 66K and 125K. Major problems: The radiator began leaking at 98K miles and was replaced. Also had to replace a power steering belt in 2009 at about 90K. One headlamp cover seal now needs to be replaced and the seal for the driver side window is loosening and needs replacing. Overall, a very good, reliable car. Just turned 135K. Highly recommended as a used car. I would buy another Elantra.

Controls and instruments

Not sure if this category is the right one, but looked like the closest one for this issue: I don't like the hvac control design. the a/c compressor button is too close to blower motor/vent knobs, so I'm constantly turning on the a/c by mistake when I don't want to. The should be spaced farther apart. The a/c compressor automatically kicks on whenever the blower control is switched to window, or window/floor setting.

Front seat support & comfort

I like the nice, wide seats which are very comfortable, but I wish the lumbar support was a little better.

Why Not the 2003 Hyundai Elantra?

Conclusion

Cons already listed in review. These issues would not prevent from buying another Elantra.
