Mounting arm on Intake Resonator was broken where it mounts to the intake manifold. It is out of sight under the engine cover & went unnoticed until it tilted downward. Removal of the cover revealed the break. Probably broken from factory.
Took car in for oil/filter change. Check Engine light also went on a few days before service. Fault log showed codes P2097 & P2099. They told me that my K&N air filter was too restrictive and caused the problem. Replaced w/OEM air filter.

Dealer has now confirmed rough idle at start up. a misfire on #1 and #3 cylinder. was going to change relay assy but did not. Dealer found contaminated fuel particles.
Continual Problem with Rough Idle, This time they removed the OCV valves and tested them, they seem to test okay but the restance levels were above normal. dealer does not want to replace, suggests removing gas tank and clean
engine light on, dealer diagnosed as bad catalytic converter
In addition, there was a strange sound when the vehicle was cold, but seemed to lessen when warm. Dealer said normal. On my own found that one of the clips on the air box was hanging loose. Fastened it.
The evaporative cable and canister failed.
Threw a Check engine code, cylinder misfire. No root cause found. Issue has not recurred.

The (drive shaft) vibration, reported since June continued. This visit, the drive shaft was replaced...but the vibration continues, though less noticeable. Also had to tighten bolts on steering box. Lubricated window tracks for rattles.

Oil Control Valve failed, check engine light came on. CVVT was not working till repair completed. 2nd engine related issue in 1 yr ownership, and I take excellent care of the car..above and beyond most owners.
Oil control valve failed again after 2 replacements... PCM failure (brain of the car) both replaced under warranty...check engine light on again 400 miles later.

Genesis 3.8 engine makes a harsh "rock-rock-rock-rock-rock" sound at about 2000 rpm under load. Several people have commented. I have a video on YouTube (search "Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Sound") documenting it. Two dealers--no help.
The engine imploded while driving on the freeway. It threw a rod and blew a hole in the engine block. This car was serviced regularly through a dealership and had just returned from servicing 2 weeks earlier.

Noisy engine - whining. Idler pulley replaced. Pulley replaced, but still whines.
Engine replaced. Short block. I complained about whining noise for 18 months, ever since they replaced a valve (no noise before repair). After we got into the extended warranty, they took the problem seriously. Noisy oil pump, metal in the oil pan.

This is my second trip to the dealer because my check engine light came on. The dealer informed me that it was a TSB or recall on the check engine light and informed me that the problem will be fixed. The dealership fixed the light. Check engine light came back on, and the dealer recognized it, but couldn't find a problem with the car. She said when you have a lot of electronics on a car this will normally happen.
Horrible smell when accelerating hard. Has been present since day one. Dealership won't admit there is a problem.
