Mounting arm on Intake Resonator was broken where it mounts to the intake manifold. It is out of sight under the engine cover & went unnoticed until it tilted downward. Removal of the cover revealed the break. Probably broken from factory.
Took car in for oil/filter change. Check Engine light also went on a few days before service. Fault log showed codes P2097 & P2099. They told me that my K&N air filter was too restrictive and caused the problem. Replaced w/OEM air filter.

Engine check light stayed on. Dealer claimed there was a TSB (software upgrade) and that should probably resolve the issue.
Fuel filler air vent plugged, unable to add gas due to nozzle shutting down after each cupfull. Removed trunk liner to clean air vent.

Fuel Tank not venting properly during fill-ups causing constant stops of gas pump.

Car would not start when very cold. Engine would crank but no start. As if no fuel or no spark. Had the throttle body replaced under warranty. Front cover as well as oil pan leaking oil! Had both gaskets and or silicon seals replaced to correct oil leaks. Both under warranty but not normal as far as I am concerned for such low mileage.
The check engine light flashed intermittently. Dealer says problem was caused by use of a automobile radar detector. Dealer disconnected battery and reset auto.

Dealer has now confirmed rough idle at start up. a misfire on #1 and #3 cylinder. was going to change relay assy but did not. Dealer found contaminated fuel particles.
Continual Problem with Rough Idle, This time they removed the OCV valves and tested them, they seem to test okay but the restance levels were above normal. dealer does not want to replace, suggests removing gas tank and clean

Engine light came on. They replaced the sensor which apparently was a in a tech service bulletin.
In addition, there was a strange sound when the vehicle was cold, but seemed to lessen when warm. Dealer said normal. On my own found that one of the clips on the air box was hanging loose. Fastened it.

The (drive shaft) vibration, reported since June continued. This visit, the drive shaft was replaced...but the vibration continues, though less noticeable. Also had to tighten bolts on steering box. Lubricated window tracks for rattles.
Right muffler rubber hangers failing. Rubber muffler hangers ordered.
Fuel pump not working, replaced, left me stranded in Trader Joe's parking lot.
The water pump was replaced The thermostat failed and was replaced.
Engine was misfiring. Car was towed at no expense. Computer was updated with progam, had car back within a day. Car runs fine.

Oil Control Valve failed, check engine light came on. CVVT was not working till repair completed. 2nd engine related issue in 1 yr ownership, and I take excellent care of the car..above and beyond most owners.
Oil control valve failed again after 2 replacements... PCM failure (brain of the car) both replaced under warranty...check engine light on again 400 miles later.
ECM and OCV bad 2nd time on each, replaced under warranty.

Genesis 3.8 engine makes a harsh "rock-rock-rock-rock-rock" sound at about 2000 rpm under load. Several people have commented. I have a video on YouTube (search "Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Sound") documenting it. Two dealers--no help.
The engine imploded while driving on the freeway. It threw a rod and blew a hole in the engine block. This car was serviced regularly through a dealership and had just returned from servicing 2 weeks earlier.
Check engine light came on. Took to shop and they said there was a TSB. Performed TSB and problem went away.

Horrible smell when accelerating hard. Has been present since day one. Dealership won't admit there is a problem.

Engine started with white smoke and severe noise. Restarted fine. Determined to be a valve problem. Replaced all hydraulic lifters and one valve, new timing chain tensioners.

This is my second trip to the dealer because my check engine light came on. The dealer informed me that it was a TSB or recall on the check engine light and informed me that the problem will be fixed. The dealership fixed the light. Check engine light came back on, and the dealer recognized it, but couldn't find a problem with the car. She said when you have a lot of electronics on a car this will normally happen.

Noisy engine - whining. Idler pulley replaced. Pulley replaced, but still whines.
Engine replaced. Short block. I complained about whining noise for 18 months, ever since they replaced a valve (no noise before repair). After we got into the extended warranty, they took the problem seriously. Noisy oil pump, metal in the oil pan.
V8 engine knocking; went away after 20 min.; Hyundai field engineers alerted.

Erratic engine idle. The throttle position sensor was replaced.
Hi idle sensor not functioning properly and was replaced which corrected the problem.
Noise from what seemed like the accessory belt as well as erratic idle on startup only when ambiant temperature is less than 5 degrees celsius.

They replaced the throttle body per Hyundai's direction and that fixed the erratic idle at startup problem.
Squealing noise at start up. They replaced all the serpentine belt idlers including a $350 one that wasn't covered by the warranty. Fortunately for me the dealer picked up the cost.
header had rusted out and required replacement.
Engine running enevenly and eventually could not accelerate due to faulty throtle position sensor. "Limped" to dealer and part replaced
microscopic hole developed in lower radiator hose. no obvious leak. check engine sensor lighted up. Dealer found issue and repaired. No cost to me. Great!

Shifting was erratic. New software update fixed it.
Transmission shifts poorly. This is a problem on all 3.8 Genesis because Hyundai met fuel mileage standards using the transmission rather than the engine. I'll never buy another one.
Fuel Release switch failed. Also did recall software updates and oil change.
Speed sensor was cracked and needed to be replaced.

Engine would surge when idling and power would cut out when driving. Drove it to dealer and they replaced faulty fuel sensor.
Loss of engine power when driving in hot weather (35+deg.C). Happened twice. First time was able to drive home. 2nd time needed dealer assistance. No obvious cause but they cleaned MAF. No problem since but also hasn't been as hot.

Engine was making a knocking sound at startup. Dealer diagnosed a problem in the bottom end and replaced the engine with a new one, from Hyundai.
