2011 Kia Optima Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: Owner Pros and Cons by bdjunk

I love the total package of power and economy, plus the styling inside and out. Black does require more washing and this is a PIA, but it looks great.
rn
rnWhat I didn't like (tires) I fixed. Also bought spare (light) rims from Tirerack along with winter tires and even up here in Northern NY, never needed 4wd, even when regularly visiting ski resorts.
Powertrain performance
Amazing combo of turbo torque and mpg potential if you stay out of the turbo. 6 spd paddle shifters, or "Eco" mode for high mpg. On trips as much as 33 mpg ! But 274 bhp available if needed.
Exterior styling
It pushes my buttons. A good job by former-Audi Chief stylist Peter Schreyer. IMHO, looks best in black.
Fuel economy
33 mpg on 200 mile trips at about 65 mph avg.
Handling
Flat and stable, but ride comfort suffers with the SX model.
Feature availability
My (loaded) SX has endless features, too long to list. More than any under $50k car.
Ride smoothness
On the turbo model, the stock tires stink. So I insisted the dealer replace them with softer-riding Michelin Primacys. That helped a lot for both ride and tire noise.
Quietness
Changing the tires help quiet the excessive tire rumble.
Tires
The stock tires on the 2011 SX, in a word, suck. Traction is poor and noise is high. maybe they wear well; wouldn't know, changed them out before purchase.
Audio & nav systems
The bluetooth phone isn't as good as some, on my 2011, but is adequate.
