After driving home from work, rear passenger tire was hot to touch and there was distinct smell of hot metal. Called dealer, they thought it was caused by brake pad locking up in bracket; said they would replace pads and turn rotors-covered under warranty. Turned out it was the brake calipers - dealer recommended the caliper maintenance service, which was not covered under warranty. Ever since, I now hear a squealing noise from that wheel whenever I back the vehicle. Quickly depressing brake usually gets noise to stop. |

I was shocked to find that my rear brakes had worn out before my front brakes. The front brakes show about 50% wear but the rear brakes had went metal to metal. Being a former mechanic it was nothing for me to replace the brakes myself. I used premium parts for the repair and expect them to last longer than the OEM. |
