2021 Toyota Highlander 4dr SUV

295-horsepower 3.5L V6 8-speed shiftable automatic AWD

21000 mi After much frustration of various inconsistent HD FM radio reception performance from the same locations I did more I investigation and I learned that apparently for marketing and budgetary reasons Toyota decided that not enough people listen to FM anymore to make it important enough to treat properly so they located the FM antenna inside of the rear cargo area driver side window(WHAT ???) This results in poor reception in general however, when you are driving in a direction where the station transmitter has no portion of the vehicle between it and the window with the imbedded antenna, the reception can be OK for a period of time until the route of travel causes the upper portions of the SUV itself to then be in-between the transmitter and the transmitter then the sig al drops immediately.

4000 mi The automatic rear hatch does not reliably open using the inside button. The repair was unsuccessful and will have to go back. Update: We discovered that it was happening because you first have to unlock all doors of the vehicle before the tailgate will raise. If you are used to having a sedan and someone wants you to pop the truck, you just pull the lever. However, in the Highlander, you have to first unlock all doors then push the tailgate button. Seems unnecessary to me, but so be it.

When operating the passenger window, via either switch, the window motor would operate the window down and then back up, but then it would not work after that. If you can follow a Youtube of the repair you can do it yourself. $65 on Amazon

Electrical, other than above, repair
79000 mi AC light would blink when the car drove through very rainy conditions, and the AC would cut off for a few seconds. Supposedly was some sort of accessory belt clutch relay, but a new relay never solved the problem. In very cold temps (below 10-15 degrees F) the Airbag light would come on until the car got warmed up. Supposedly this indicated that there was a faulty airbag sensor, but Toyota never really fixed it. "Couldn't reproduce" was their usual diagnosis.
